Secure Automotive Networking examines the common Business Models, ITS Frameworks and Security Architectures that are being developed and deployed in major research programs and urban centers for Automotive Networks. Developers of these ITS programs can now use established, repeatable methodologies for managing the security and privacy of data in the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure IT segments. The solutions presented in this text offer a how to approach in these Automotive Networking areas.

  • Designing Security and Privacy Services for entities within the Automotive Network.
  • Managing a repository of account information where ITS identity data is maintained.
  • Provisioning entities throughout their ITS lifecycle
  • Access Management Controls including authentication and authorization services to Network Users, Administrative Users, Subscription Providers, and Roadside Equipment.
  • Enforcing access control policies on users, RSE groups, political boundaries, and geographic boundaries.
  • Binding credentials to Registered Entities with the implementation of an ITS Certificate Authority.
  • Integrating of an ITS Public Key Infrastructure to provide a Certificate Authority for Automotive Network devices and services.
  • Integrating web services technologies and enabling authorization and authentication capabilities within those services.
